An important update for clients, their families, staff, government agencies, fellow services and the public on the lifting of restrictions
The COVID-19 risk for our clients is of major concern to us, particularly for those in our shared homes who would be at life threatening risk if they caught the virus.
We are taking our guidance from the State government who have issued the following advice:
Vulnerable people are encouraged to stay home and protect their health. Vulnerable people include:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people 50 years and older with one or more chronic medical conditions
- People 65 years and older with chronic medical conditions
- People 70 years and older
- People with compromised immune systems, and people with a disability
If necessary, we will consult client GPs on how best to manage the timing of their entry into general life. If that advice does not seem to take into account the level of risk as we understand it, we will seek secondary advice.
The Direct Service Manager, Lee-Anne Aulich and her team will continue negotiating the lift off with clients and families. Lee-Anne in consultation with Direct Service Coordinators, will negotiate directly with day services as they plan to open again.
Entering the lift off is fraught with conflict and difficulties that require slow and carefully considered decisions.
Thank you for your patience.
